I was born and raised in the Midwest. Missouri, specifically. That's where I've lived most of my life, first in Kansas City, then in Belton, finally in Columbia. Although I did move to New Mexico for two years. I lived briefly in White Rock and primarily in Santa Fe.
Santa Fe is a hell of a lot more interesting.
I knew from a fairly young age that writing was my favorite thing. The only assignments I really cared about in school were ones that involved writing with any kind of creative license. There were a lot of scattered attempts and false starts at consistent writing until January of 2004. I was fifteen years old, we had just moved, and had gotten a kickass computer for Christmas.
That month, I wrote what I consider to be my first real story. It was called Dreary, it was a crossover of Unreal Tournament and John Carpenter's The Thing, and it sucked beyond belief. From there, I began writing fan fiction and posting it on Fanfiction.net a great deal. My life pretty much revolved around that for years.
Eventually, in March of 2013, I discovered WattPad. That, combined with the fact that I was lucky enough to be in a position where I didn't need to leave the house to do my job, meant that I began working on my first real novel.
That novel became Necropolis. I self-published it and promptly got started on a sequel. That kicked off my writing career, such as it is. I've since finished The Shadow Wars, which came out to be 15 novels, and some novellas and short stories, and I really just see this as a prelude to the rest of my career. I've got a lot more ideas.
Currently, I live in Columbia, MO with my wife, a roommate, and two cats, and I manage to scrape together enough money to write full-time.
